Faucet Basics

Faucets
"Remember to take into consideration; your faucet is going to be the item that you touch most often in your kitchen."

As a general rule in faucets, you get the value you invest in. Low cost faucets probably contain critical parts made of plastic. While most faucets priced midrange are going to give good service for many years but may lack some styles and features. The key is good materials like ceramic cartridges, brass and stainless steel and a known brand name. Reliability, ergonomics and style will come into play as you enjoy your choice for many years to come. In many cases faucets found in mass market stores are identical to the manufacturer's regular faucet just renamed or with a slightly different SKU. In some cases the faucet can be sold at a lower price because the materials used are lower quality - plastic spouts rather than brass, for example, or worse, plastic cartridges that will leak after a few years of service.
